DIY Shoe Repair

I am a total shoe girl, so when my favorite pair of sandals started to fall apart I was super disappointed.  I couldn't find a cobbler in town, so when I found an adhesive repair product called Shoe Goo at Target, I figured it was worth a shot

I simply followed the directions, applied the adhesive, & spread it around with a plastic knife.

I then secured the layers with clothespins.

After a day, they were as good as new.  The repair was easy, environmentally friendly, & great for my wardrobe.  I'm thrilled to be able to cobble my own shoes!

Pregnant Lady Fashion Show

Dressing during pregnancy & finding clothes to fit make the word style all but impossible.  I've been trying to be more adventurous with my clothing selections & use of non-maternity items.   Here are a few of my looks of the last week.

Left:
Maroon & Brown Shirts--Hand-me-up (thanks sisters!)
Belt--Target several seasons ago
Skirt--Local Hippy Shop
Boots--Unknown origin?  They were one of the pairs I had resoled, needless to say I've had them a while.

Right:

Scarf--Gap
Sweater--Macy's
Leggings--JC Penney $2 after coupon!
Boots--Steve Madden

Don't mind the incredibly poor picture quality & smudgy mirror, just a little reality for you...

Scarf--Unknown, Christmas present years ago
Sweater--Anthropologie
T-Shirt--Motherhood Maternity
Jeans--Calvin Klein// These are actually my regular jeans that are held up with the help of a rubber band & a belly band.  I've finally perfected that combo.

Happy Weekend!

Frugal Fashionista: Sunday Best

I haven't done any fashionista posts lately; mainly because I haven't been all too fashionable of late.  I was, however, able to compile a few pictures left over from Sundays this summer to share with you all.  For the record, I feel totally ridiculous taking these pictures, so please, save any judgements.  ;)

Channeling my best June Cleaver

Dress:  Gadzooks more than 5 years ago, but I think it was in the $20 range
Head Band:  Rescued ribbon from a gift

Necklace:  Gift from my handsome husband

Pearl Earrings:  Christmas present from my parents

Wedges:  Target Clearance

Shirt:  Banana Republic outlet --Free thanks to a giftcard from my dad
Skirt:  Goodwill

Ring:  Anniversary present from JC (Just love that guy!)

Espadrilles:  TJ Maxx end of season clearance several years ago

And last but not least, I've got to include a picture of our busy little Doodle Bug...

Dress:  Children's Place--Bought at Once Upon a Child's on clearance for $1
Shoes:  Gift from Nana

Looking at my pictures, many of the items I'm wearing are close to 5 years old.  I'm glad to know my cheap finds are holding up!

Fashionista Friday: I Need to do Laundry Edition

I need to do laundry.  Badly.  I just did laundry, but it seems that I have either misplaced all the clothes that I want, or have already worn them.  Ugh.  And as far as Emerson goes, poor lil' babe is having some diaper absorbency issues and is therefore having to be changed 3 times a day.  (I stripped my diapers today, so I'm hoping that takes care of the issue).

After much effort, here is the best we girls could come up with:

Little E's shirt is from JC Penney's.  We bought it when I was pregnant, so I don't remember exactly how much we paid, but it was on crazy discount, like a dollar or two.

Pants:  Ralph Lauren--Goodwill $0.99
Socks:  Kohls--Set of 6, free with Kohls giftcard in the mail
Edgar Allen Poe action figure--Priceless

Shoes:  Old Navy--My sister left them here while visiting.  Sad for her, awesome for me.
Jeans:  Calvin Klein--Gift from my Maja & Faja

Flower Pin:  Gap--Clearance, back in the day when Carrie wore flowers on Sex & the City...

Ring:  Silver & Moonstone--From Von's in West Lafayette, IN (AMAZING jewelry there.  Amazing.)  I paid in the $25-$30 range for this sucker back in college.

E was tugging on my leg here.  :)

Scarf:  Gap--Hand-me-up from my littlest sister
Grey Shirt:  Banana Republic--I got it from my mama, my mama, my mama
Blue Sweater--Merona--Goodwill, a gift from my dad

And lastly, couldn't help but post E's over the top frou-frou coat and pink patent shoes, both from her grandma.

Happy Weekend All!

P.S. Head on over to Domestic Fashionista, the originator of Fashionista Friday and check out her Daisy Girl Creations Giveaway.  Cute!

Fashionista Friday: Catch Up Edition

I realize I haven't done one of these posts in a while, but better late than never, eh?  This is a compilation of pictures, some from this fall, but it still gives you a taste of what I wear regularly.

Typical Church Outfit:

Shoes:  Nine West from 6pm.com--I bought them two years ago, but I think that I paid around $30

Sweater:  Gap Outlet--bought with a Christmas giftcard
Skirt:  Banana Republic--hand-me-up from my sister

Tiffany Ring--A gift from my handsome husband, back when he was just my handsome boyfriend.  I got this for our first Christmas together.

Coffee with a good friend:

Shirt:  Alloy clearance--I think like, $10
Jeans:  Mossimo--Hand-me-up from my generous sister

Shoes:  Converse All Stars--TJ Maxx $10

Ring:  Gift from my mom & dad
Bracelet:  Ten Thousand Villages $15

Pendant:  We bought this on our honeymoon in Mexico.  I think I paid in the $10 range.

Earrings:  Boma.  I splurged on these and paid between $25-$30.  Incidentally, these were my 'something blue' on our wedding day.

Today, lunch with JC's department & visiting shut ins from church:

Jeans:  Calvin Klein--Christmas gift from Mom & Dad

Sweater:  JC Penney, bought with store credit/Christmas money
